Positive Thought - Let Go Of Exhausting Behaviors

Do you get frustrated and short tempered driving in traffic? Me too! I find it frustrating that after years of working on letting go of controlling behavior, I can still let something I have no control over get to me. These days I don't pound on the steering wheel so hard I worry about the airbag going off but I still can feel my sense of self control quickly slipping away when people don't behave the way I think they should.  

Positive Thought of the Week:
I will let go of the exhausting behaviors generated by my attempt to control and/or influence situations over which I have neither. We do have control of our thoughts, our behaviors and our choices. But we only have influence over other people, places and situations, not control. Positive influence is created when I am centered and balanced and in control emotionally. Then and only then can I use my ability and access to influence positive change. Without control or influence I only have concern. Concern is for the war on terrorism, the stock market and the energy crisis. I need to let go of these concerns. Concerns are like worries, they only generate negative energy. Either get in a place where you can do something about controlling or influencing these situations or let them go. Today I will let go of concerns and enhance my control and influence with positive energy.

Business Thought of the Week:
Before I create an event like sending an email, picking up a phone or beginning a meeting I will ask myself how I would like people to think of me at the end. When I set a picture in my mind of how I will handle these people and situations I give myself a radically improved chance of success. When I know how I want something to end I have a much clearer path to guide me.

Last week I finalized a series of organizational improvement workshops: Practical Leadership Lessons Series, Generate Exceptional Sales and Customer Service, Improving your Organization’s Emotional Intelligence, Train the Trainer and Public Speaking Skills, Building Skills for New Manager and Supervisors.
